Heart & Lung Health

Heart and lung health is all about taking care of two vital parts of your body: your heart, which acts like a strong pump, and your lungs, which help you breathe. Both are crucial for keeping you alive and full of energy. To make sure they work well, you need to know how to eat right, stay active, and avoid things that can harm them. This way, you can stay strong and avoid heart and lung problems. Let's explore some key terms and how to keep your heart and lungs in great shape!

Heart Health:

  1. Cardiovascular Disease: This is a big word for heart problems. It means issues with your heart and blood vessels. It can include things like heart attacks and heart failure.
  2. Heart Attack (Myocardial Infarction): A heart attack happens when your heart doesn't get enough blood. It can make your chest hurt, and you might feel short of breath.
  3. Heart Disease Risk Factors: Some things can make heart problems more likely, like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, smoking, being overweight, and diabetes.

  4. Allergies: Allergies can make your lungs act up, like asthma. It's important to know what you're allergic to and try to avoid it.
  5. Lung Function Testing: Doctors can do tests to check how well your lungs are working. It's like checking how well your body can breathe.
  6. Preventive Measures: Washing your hands and staying up to date with your vaccinations can help keep you from getting sick and having trouble with your lungs.
  7. Exercise and Breathing Techniques: Doing activities and exercises can help make your lungs strong and healthy. Breathing exercises can help too.
