New housing development in the city of Tempe located at Apache Blvd. and the 101. This site, with a 24/7 secured and monitored entrance will offer 104 one, two, and three bedroom low income apartments for rent. On-site amenities will include a community room designed to ensure convenience for residents which will provide opportunities for tenant services (recreational/social activities) and will include a clubhouse kitchenette for use by residents and members of the surrounding community on the ground level. The site was purposely selected for its proximity to the light rail, supportive services, frequent transit routes, educational, healthcare facilities, and civic and recreational/cultural amenities which are all attractive and critical to the stability of low-income family households. Newtown Community Development Corporation, an Arizona nonprofit corporation (“Newtown”), will be simultaneously developing 19 townhomes, most of which will be permanently affordable and sold to households making 79% of AMI or less. These townhomes will provide future homeownership opportunities for Copa employees as well as Project residents.
